Weekend At Penang

Was spending my weekend at Butterworth, Penang covering two events, 988 GCMC Concert at Autocity and TVB8 Junior Idol Semi-Final at Sunway Carnival Mall. These are two very vast different environments with 988's concert under extreme hot sun in the afternoon and rain by nightfall as compared to TVB8's event in the comfort of an air-conditioned shopping mall. At Autocity I sweat under the scorching hot afternoon sun and got even more wet when it rained! But at Sunway Carnival Mall...I barely had a drop of sweat.

But a huge special thanks for Angie (aka Mrs Andy Lau) for providing me the accommodation for the last three days and nites. Originally, I was told that I am to share a room at G-Hotel with a Stephen on Sat nite and another room at Sunway Hotel for Sun nite. But later found out that my G-Hotel room already have THREE tenants liao and no room reservation was made for me at Sunway!!! Luckily "Angie Hotel" has an extra room available!

Also got to thank Angie for driving me around the last few days, picking me up from airport and instantly sending me over to Lorong Selamat for some irresistible Penang Char Kuew Teow. Famous Dim Sum breakfast at Anson Road was awesome too! Thanks for transporting me to and back the event venues. Also thanks for the Penang Ferry ride across to and back Butterworth...it was an awesome experience! Thanks for the internet connection for me to get the pics out for media release after the 988 concert.

Three big words...THANKS FOR EVERYTHING!!! [But one very important thing we forgot to do...we didn't have any pics together!!!]

Foot Reflexology

OK, I have procastinated about visiting the foot reflexology centre for months now and yesterday, I finally went in for my first session at "Reborn". I took the "40mins feet only" session at RM40. He started with my left foot and the moment he whacked his knuckles onto my poor foot I almost jumped out of my seat!!! I mean it was like "oooh", "arghhh", "eeehhh" and "ooowah". And after 20mins, only my left foot was done and nw have to endure the whole process again on my right foot!!! I was like..."awe ma gawd!!!"

After 40mins of "torture" my legs do feel lighter but a few hours later after my shower, I begin to feel the pain on both my feet and calves. I can still walk, of course. But I was told that I may go through a "detoxifying process" on my next toilet session. And that I did...green stuffs!!!

So, for those of you who have yet to try it...YOU SHOULD. Its really an experience but one must be able to bear the "pain" initially. All the best!

Body Glove Outdoor Shoot

Just completed Body Glove's Summer Boy Girl Search 2008's outdoor shoot at A'Famosa, Malacca. The whole production crew were there on Monday and was back yesterday evening. The shoot consist of three main segments namely the garden area, the waterpark and the cowboy town. We were all housed in two average-sized villas with 4 bedrooms each. The cool thing was that each villa has its own private swimming pool.

We arrived at A'Famosa on Monday at around 9:30am and by the time we checked in, it was already close to 10am. Started make-up instantly and was only all done and ready around 12noon. The weather was reasonable with moderate sun but it rainned heavily by lunch time of Tuesday, so we have to make an early end to the shoot. Astro crew were also there to capture snapshot footages of the event.

My Birthday Is Coming

My birthday is just around the corner...3 more weeks to be precise. July 28 to be accurate. I suppose it will just be another year, another birthday...nothing to shout about. Gone are the days where parties and celebrations were hosted. Which also means that birthday presents may not come! Haha...
-
Maybe someone wants to take me out or something? Maybe someone wants to buy nasi kambing tambah telor at the mamak stall? Maybe someone will courier me a present? And speaking of presents, in case you really do plan to get me something, and in order not to waste your money, here is my wish list for your perusal.

A medium-sized camera bag from Crumpler [RM385].

Nikon 50mm f1.8D lens [RM385].

Watch from Timberland [RM850]. Seiko has a very nice model at [RM550].

The new Nikon Speedlight SB900 [RM1,650].

Apple iPhone [RM1,850].

Snare drum from Pearl "Omar Hakim Signature Series" [RM1,850].

Snare drum from Yamaha "Akira Jimbo Signature Series" [RM2,500].

Nikon AF70-210 VR f2.8 lens [RM5,800].

Rolex Submariner [RM8,850].

Also, I was too bored today, so I took a stroll (alone) at KLCC and bumped into Oakley's boutique. I found very nice Oakley casual wears. Very nice. Retailing at around RM200 a piece. "XL" is my size! For better fitting, bring me along when you shop!

Free To Watch DVDs

Apparently my busy schedule which supposedly started in June turns out to be not that busy afterall. I do get random shoots here and there but not exactly that hectic. In fact, this last few weeks I have been spending quite some time on a few investment deals of which if any pulls through, I might just be able to retire. But mega deals are lenghty and takes a longer processing period. So, we'll see...
-
Also taking this time to rest (I sleep a lot), catch up on some readings and DVDs! I drove down town to grab some DVDs just now. Haha... Bought 2 blue-ray discs (High Definition DVD)..."Cleaner" with Samuel Jackson and Eva Mendes, and "The Hunting Party" starring Richard Gere and Terrence Howard. Also got 4 other (normal) DVDs...Vantage Point, The Bank Job, In Bruges and Dragon Wars.
-
I think it might be time to consider a 42" LCD TV and a blue-ray disc player!!!

New Nikons

Fullframe DSLRs seem to be getting popular. Nikon just launched their semi-pro fullframe DSLR...the Nikon D700, with a beautiful 3" TFT screen and a whooping 12 megapixels. Together with that, the new SB900 Speedlight was also launch. Estimated retail selling price for the D700 is around RM10,000 (body only) and RM1,950 for the SB900. With all that hype, I still like the 1.5x and 2x factors of my D2X.

No Answer Is Bad Answer

Remember the days when were in school, and the exam season comes, the best tip any teacher would give is never to leave any questions unanswered. Even if you don't know the answer, just shoot on something. In this case, its much easier if the exam has objective answers where you have a choice selection of 5 possible answers namely A, B, C, D and E. Whichever one you shoot, you stand a 20% chance to a correct answer but if you were to leave it empty, you score nothing.
-
That is why "no answer is bad answer". In a conversation, when asked a question, by not answering brings danger of a "bad answer". Or if you deliberately divert the question to something else, it is as good as unanswered. It becomes even more dangerous when the question thrown to you is a sensitive question. By answering "yes", you may be admitting to something bad or embarrassing. So, you choose not to answer. But by not answering, it may mean that you are trying to hide something. And the truth deters you from saying "no".
-
You can't say yes and neither can you say no. So, you divert the question! But "no answer is bad answer". By not answering the question, you leave a vacuum for assumptions and imaginations. And sometimes, such imaginations can run very very wild and far away from the actual truth. The story, so far twisted, that is brings wrong judgement unto the question.
-
But then again, there is also a type of brainees where the answer is a "No, I didn't do it" but yet choose not to answer directly. They would rather explain why there is no point of giving an answer than to just give the answer! It could be a simple "no" and be freed from all implications.
-
For me, in such conversations, I get really annoyed with "no answers". I want to hear a "no" but I just can't get one. I fear a "yes" but even that I don't get. So, that leaves me to my imagination and the human psychological mind will naturally lean towards the negative "yes". Which means now I automatically fall into a depression mode because the answer, for the moment, is a "Yes, I did it".
-
Now wouldn't be it so much easier to just answer the simple question? Yes?
