No need to do guess work. But "longing for the ideal" would put your hands and feet to work to reach "the ideal". Page 181 of this book says, "Behind everything you do, is a thought".

Therefore, you shouldn't just settle for the "real" and not strive for the 'ideal' (since it's still an unknown future) but rather do what you can within your resources to reach the "ideal".

One of my mentors from AIA once told me not to set "realistic goals"...cause they are for loosers.

hmmm...Babyboss Pictureshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08100920301202311851noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-271579269743920971.post-88572372453548236602008-02-08T13:43:00.000+08:002008-02-08T13:43:00.000+08:00i like this very much: #Be realistic in your expec...i like this very much:

#Be realistic in your expectations - Longing for the ideal while criticizing the real is evidence of immaturity. On the other hand, settling for the real without striving for the ideal is complacency. Maturity is living with the tension.#

sometimes we dont know what and where we are heading to .. and just with that particular 'settling for the real without striving for the ideal' sentence.. it seems to have alerted me in a way ..

i think i should be more realistic .. 'ideal' might not be available -- for now. If it happens in the future, and comes back to me, i would deeply appreciate. Else, why do i still strive so hard now to get?

i should just settle with the 'real' and focus on it .. i guess i cant and will not longer strive for the 'ideal' since it's still an unknown future.

babyboss, thank you so much for sharing the post. :)

happy lunar new year !Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10934254730488226631noreply@blogger.com
